Jimbaran Sunset Beach Dining

Jimbaran sits on the narrow neck of land just south of Bali’s international airport, between Kuta and the Bukit peninsula. That makes it easy to reach from most of south Bali, but evening traffic can turn a short drive into a long one. Here is how long it takes to get to Jimbaran Bay and the best way to arrive in time for a sunset seafood dinner.

The best ways to get there

Private driver or taxi

The easiest option for dinner, especially for families and groups. A private driver can wait while you eat and take you straight back to your hotel, which is useful late at night when ride-hailing cars can be harder to find. Metered taxis are also widely available in Kuta, Nusa Dua and the airport area.

Ride-hailing apps

Grab and Gojek work in most of south Bali and are a good budget option for getting there. For the trip home, it can help to book a return ride in advance.

Scooter

Only if you have a valid motorbike licence and international driving permit, and are confident in heavy traffic. Roads around the airport are busy in the evening, and if you plan to enjoy a beer with dinner, take a car instead.

Planning tips by area

  • Seminyak and Canggu: leave by 4:30pm at the latest to make the sunset.
  • Sanur: the Bali Mandara toll road over the water towards the airport and Nusa Dua can save time.
  • Uluwatu: combine with an afternoon at Uluwatu Temple. If you stay for the Kecak dance at sunset, come for a later dinner afterwards. We are open until 11pm.
  • Ubud: make it part of a south Bali day trip rather than a dedicated dinner run, or plan it for the night you move to a beach hotel.
  • Last night in Bali: Jimbaran is the closest seafood beach to the airport, so it works well before a late-night flight.
